This Glog was made by Niall. We hope you will learn something new about the Flying Squirrel!

Have you ever heard of the Fisher?
Liam chose an animal none of us had ever heard of before for his animal research project. I hope you will find his Glog as interesting as I did!
The Cougar
The students have worked very hard on their Canadian Animal research projects. We are going to feature one Glog each day. We hope you will enjoy learning about the animals the students studied.
Here is Micheal’s fantastic Glog on the Cougar. I know Micheal would love it if you left him a comment.

First Signs of Germination
Today we found two of the “T” seeds had germinated. The students were excited to see the first signs of life.
Calling All Tomatonauts!
We are very excited to be participating in Tomatosphere 2010. The students will be planting some very special tomato seeds this week!
Tomatosphere is a Canadian-based research project involving more than 12,000 classrooms of students (“Tomatonauts”) across Canada and the United States. The project enables students to make a contribution to a real science experiment involving research related to the development of seeds with a high germination rate for prolonged space travel.
Students will work with two packages of seeds – a control group and a group of seeds that were taken into space to the International Space Station aboard Space Shuttle Endeavour. The seeds spent two months on the Station before returning to Earth in late September 2009.
The students will observe:
• The time required for each seed to successfully germinate.
• The percent of successful germination in each group.
• The seedling vigour as determined by height measurements.
• How similar seedling vigour is in each group.

Another “Egg”citing Arrival
Will it Sink or Will it Float?
Today in Science we had a lot of fun. First we did an experiment to find out which solids would sink in water and which solids would float. We came up with a lot of good ideas about floating and sinking. Next Mrs. Watson challenged our groups to make plasticine boats that would float and hold as many marbles as possible. Team “Science Glory” won the challenge with a boat that could carry 42 marbles!

As a Matter of Fact
This term we have been studying matter. We have learned about solids, liquids, and gases. Yesterday, we did three fun experiment to learn more about gases. First we blew up a balloon without using our mouths, next we made raisins dance, and finally we tried to blow up a balloon inside a bottle.

What an exciting day!
Today when we got to school we found that the first of our baby chicks had hatched! We were all very excited and decided to name the little guy, Graham. Several other chicks were starting to hatch by the time we went home for the day and when Mrs. W came back at night to check on them 6 more had hatched. Tomorrow will be a fun day!

I just got back from a trip down island and found out we will have 24 new fluffy classmates visiting us when we get back from Spring Break.
