Geometry Fun

In math we have been studying 2D shapes and 3D solids. This week we had fun building skeletons for different prisms and pyramids. We had to work in teams and decide how many edges and vertices each solid had so that we would know how many straws and balls of clay we would need.

Which solids were the easiest to build? Which were the most challenging?

Did any of the solids have the same number of vertices and edges?

Geometric Designs

Friday is normally our art day, but with today being a Professional Development Day in our school district we decided to find a way to combine art with math on a Thursday instead.

This lesson from Adventures of an Art Teacher seemed to be the perfect fit.

We talked about different two dimensional shapes and then had a wonderful time using them to create these beautiful pictures.

Geometry Fun!

Today we used straws and plasticine to build polygons and 3D solids. The students worked in teams to complete each challenge. They had a lot of fun and showed that they know a lot about geometry!
