Comparing Our Schools

Our blogging friends in Mrs. W’s P-3 class in Australia posted a Voicethread of their school like the one we made last month. It is very interesting to see how our schools are the same and how they are different. Here are the Voicethreads from both schools:

Here are some of the interesting things we found out when comparing our schools:
*We both have really nice playgrounds, but the students in P-3 have a cover over part of theirs for shade from the sun.
*They have an area to eat outside and we eat inside.
*They hang their back packs outside and we hang ours up in the classroom.
*They have a beautiful garden garden area
*We both have school bells, but theirs is much older than ours is.
*We call our grassy area a field and they call theirs an oval.
*They play footy on their oval and we play soccer.

We are so glad that Mrs. W and her class made a Voicethread!

  1. Hi Mrs W and 1/2/3,
We were so surprised today when we got your message and discovered that Mrs W had made a comment on our voicethread. It was fantastic to hear her voice.

We would have like to made a comment on your voicethread so you could hear us, however it was locked so comments can’t be added.

We were the only school from Australia to have added a voicethread to http://elementaryvoicethreads.wikispaces.com/ when we added ours. There has only been one school to submit from New Zealand. We were doublely surprised this morning when we discovered that they had left us a comment on our blog.

It was great that you added our voicethread to your post about comparing schools. We are going to put a page on our blog where we can compare our two schools and list what we find out about your school. We assume that many of you will still be in Mrs W’s class when you come back to school for your next semester and a new grade level.

We have to thank you for putting your voicethread originally on your blog. That is how we found out about the wiki site. It would have been good if more schools from around the world had joined in.

We hope you have a great Summer vacation (we call them holidays). We will be thinking of you as it gets nice and warm in British Columbia and we get colder.

from Mrs W and p-1 @ Harston PS
