Week 4 Results

When the Reading Challenge began four weeks ago we set a goal of 16,000 minutes in six weeks. The students have already beat this goal and we have two weeks left. We have made a new goal of 25,000 minutes. Mrs. Watson is going to set-up an ice cream sundae station at the sleepover if we make our new goal!

  1. Dear Mrs Watson and the 1/2/3s,

Thanks for your comment on our blog! We just read that your new reading goals is 25,000 minutes. Wow!!! That is an amazing goal, we hope you achieve it! Your reading sleepover sounds like so much fun! What things will you be doing at the sleepover? We look forward to reading your blog after the sleepover to see all the fun you have!

You mentioned that the students find it unusual that we celebrate Christmas in Summer. It is very hard for US to imagine having a Winter Christmas! It is usually pretty warm at Christmas time and lots of families have outdoor Christmas lunches or barbeques. On the Christmas holidays (December and January) we go to the beach, go to the cricket, go for walks, swim in swimming pools and enjoy the sunshine! The Australian Open tennis tournament is also on in Melbourne (an hour away from us) It gets very hot in January and when we come back to school in February it is still quite hot.

We finish school on December 19th this year. We have our 2 week holidays starting on June 26th. We find it strange that you start a new school year in the beginning of the year! It is very interesting to learn about these differences between our countries!

When do you begin your new school year? Will you have some of the same students in your grade again? You will have to start blogging with some new students!

  2. Go Readers, Go!

Wow! Congratulations 1/2/3’s! That is quite an accomplishment. I think it would be wonderful to see you reach your new goal of 25,000 minutes. Mrs. Watson sure is a nice teacher to set up a special ice cream sundae station for all of you! That would definitely be a sweet reward.

    Keep on reading!

    From your pal,
    Mrs. Moore

    Go readers
It’s really good how much minutes you can read in 4 weeks. Try and get that ice-cream sundae. I would be amazzed how many minutes you can read in 6 weeks. hope that sundae is good.
