New Friends From Down Under

We are very excited to be learning more about Australia from our new friends in Miss Jordan’s grade 2 class at Leopold Primary School.
Miss Jordan and her class left us a message on our blog last week. Check out these links to read our posts to each other.

  1. Dear Mrs Watson and the 1/2/3 class,

Thank you so much for your last comment, sorry it’s taken us so long to write back! Things are very busy at the moment!

We really like your new post about your friends from “down under”. Check out our blog for our new post about making global connections, we put up a video of a famous Australian song you might like to watch and listen to.

We enjoyed the interactive story website link you sent us, we started making a funny story about a witch who lived under the sea! Some of us might go home and make up some stories.

It is interesting to compare our schools. We thought it was very unusual that you get to go home for lunch! We have our lunch at school, we can bring our own or buy it from the canteen (it’s like a cafeteria). We have a few questions about your school…
    1. How many students are in each of your classes?
    2. Do you learn about a different topic or theme each term? Our topic this term is “Food”.
    3. What are your favourite “everyday” and “sometimes” foods?
    4. How do your students get to school each day?
    5. Do you use Mathletics on your computers at school?

You asked about our town. We all live in Leopold (except for Miss Jordan, she lives in a nearby town). Here are some facts about Leopold…
    1. The population is around 10,000.
    2. Leopold is in the state of Victoria which is in the south of Australia.
    3. There is a big supermarket and other smaller shops.
    4. We have a big park called Gateway Sanctuary.
    5. We have tennis courts, a football oval, a bowling green and a cricket pitch in Leopold.
    6. Leopold is very close to Geelong, which is a big city. Geelong’s population is around 198,000.

What are some facts about your town?

Hope to hear from you soon!

    From Miss Jordan and 2KJ.
