Skip Counting and Patterns Galore

Another busy week of math has left the students singing counting songs and looking for patterns all around them.

We start math each day with skip counting. So far we have worked on counting by 10’s, 5’s, and 2’s. The grade threes are also learning their 3’s and 4’s. We thought you might enjoy listening to a couple of our skip counting songs. The songs come from Ron Brown’s Skip Counting CD. They really get the numbers stuck in your head!

This week we began exploring increasing patterns. We worked with partners to make our own growth patterns. In the video below you can see some of the great patterns we came up with.

    • Dear Jacob,
Thanks so much for leaving such a magnificent comment on our blog! I really like skip counting too. I think that singing the songs is really fun and it sure makes it easier to remember the number patterns. I love the new technology we have in our class too. I think the iPads are my favourite. Do you have a favourite?

      See you tomorrow!
      Mrs. W
