Exciting News!

Today was a very exciting day for our class. This morning we received our first two postcards from the Global Postcard Project we are participating in. We got a beautiful card from Mr. E in England and another one from the students in 2KM and 2KJ in Australia. The postcard from England took 8 days to reach us and the card from Australia took 11 days. It was so fun to get mail! We have added the cards to our global connections board and will make cards to send back next week.

More excitement arrived on the 11:00 ferry. We have been waiting anxiously for our new netbooks to arrive and today was the big day. A huge thank you to our Parent Advisory Council for purchasing our new computers! We will be sure to put them to very good use.

  1. Dear Mrs. Watson and Students,

How exciting it was to read your news on your blog. My class has just started their blog and they will be posting more and more. We look at your blog because we think there is a lot of good information on it. Because we live in China we are not able to read your blog without a special piece of software which we only have at home or in our classroom, not the computer lab. We also like to read your blog because you are in Canada and Ms. Davis is also Canadian though she is from a small town outside of Toronto. We liked your video.

Ms. Davis made a special video of some of the fireworks that happened at midnight here in Beijing on Chinese New Year’s Eve. We hope you like it. It lasts for about 5 minutes though the fireworks on New Years Eve actually last for about eight hours. The celebration is for 15 days.

  2. Dear Mrs Watson and 2/3s
How exciting to get your first postcards. It’s fun putting them up beside the world map.
We have sent you a postcard too, but as we sent it just before the Christchurch earthquake last week, I am hoping that it has not been held up in the Christchurch mail centre!
And new netbooks! You are having an exciting week. Have you got enough for one each? I look forward to reading the posts on your blogs when you use the netbooks.

    happy blogging

    • Dear Mrs. McKenzie,
I think we may need to clear space on our world map board for all the postcards that may arrive 🙂 We are having a lot of fun getting mail. It is so interesting to see the pictures on the postcards, learn about the classes, and look at the cool stamps. We will definitely let you know as soon as B4’s postcard arrives. We are excited because our grocery store donated postcards for us to send. They are fairly retro, but we think they are fun. We will be working on them next week.

We now have 2 net books, 2 laptops, and two desktops in our room. We would love to have a computer for everyone…maybe someday! Do you have computers in your classroom?

      Your friends,

  3. Hello Class 2/3
I am glad that you got your first postcard. What are you going to do with your new netbooks? 2 people in our school have network books to.
