A New Project

Our class is participating in the Elementary Voicethreads Wiki http://elementaryvoicethreads.wikispaces.com/ .  Students from around the world will be participating by taking pictures of their schools and creating  Voice Threads like the one we have.  We will be able to take virtual tours of the other school and leave comments.  The students took their own pictures with the school camera and decided what they would like to say.  The students really enjoyed this project.  We will be using Voice Thread again soon!

  1. Hi Mrs. Watson & the 1, 2, 3’s!

We are the Techie Kids from Michigan, USA. We saw your blog on 2KJ and thought it would be fun to visit. The Techie Kids are students from Young 5’s through 5th Grade. We are learning about making global connections by reading and commenting on other class blogs. I love your Voice Thread! This tool is very interesting to me and I’d like to incorporate it into our site.

Our students will visit your blog tomorrow to see what the 123’s are up to. If you’d like to find out more about the Techie Kids, please visit our blog at http://edublogs.misd.net/techiekids/

Hope to hear from you soon!

  2. Hi Mrs Watson and the 1/2/3s,

Wow! We LOVED watching and listening to your voicethread post, what a great idea! We might do one for our school so we can compare how our two schools look!

Skye says thank you for emailing Miss Jordan with the names of the kids in your class. We thought some of the names were very interesting and quite different to what we have in Australia.

We are learning about Aboriginal Australia this term. Aboriginals were the first people to settle in Australia thousands of years ago. It will be interesting to learn about our country’s history.

We are all looking forward to Mother’s Day on Sunday 9th May. Do you celebrate Mother’s Day on the same day as us? What kinds of things do you all do on Mother’s Day? We do things like go out for lunch, have picnics, give presents and make Mum breakfast in bed.

Miss Jordan is running in the Mother’s Day Classic Fun Run. Although she is not a mum! It is 8km long.

Keep up the great work, we love looking at all of the fun you have in your classroom!

  3. We think your school looks great.
Brayden said, “I wish we had a forest to play in.”
Luka said, “You spoke clearly on your Voicethread.”
Rosealeigha said, “We liked your pictures about your school because now we know more about your school.”
Krystal said, “I like your playground. It looks cool.”
Ophelia said, “I think your art works were drawn well.”

We all think that we would like to try making a Voicethread about our school.

Thankyou for your reply, we really enjoyed it.

    The answers to your questions
Do you see australian animals where you live?

We get lots of native birds around here, especially Kookaburra’s, parrots, galahs, cockatoos, magpies, and willy-wag tails.
Kangaroos like to live near bushlands. The nearest bush to us is at Rushworth which is 20kms away. Koalas dont live near us. Emus like to live in the deserts areas, as do the dingos. Dingos are also found on Fraser Island, off Queensland.
At our local fauna park (Kyabram Fauna Park), we can see lots of Australian animals. We are going there today.

    Your next Question:
    What’s your favourite animals?
    Marcus-Kangaroos, because the can jump.
Tess-Wombats, because they sleep upside down, and they are funny.
Georgia-Frilled neck lizzards, because I like reptiles.
Sophie-Koala, because they eat gum leaves.
Kasey-Koala, because I love it when they are little.
Erick-Kockatoo, becuae they can open your bags and undo your shoe laces.
Mrs W likes platypus. Playpus are very shy and very few people ever get to see they in the wild. Mrs W has seen them twice in the wild. Once the platypus swam beside the raft that she was on!

What animals live near you? Do you have favourite animals from Canada?
