Dusda̱k̕wa Jam

The students finished their Berries Inquiry today with the making of dusda̱k̕wa freezer jam. The students worked in teams to gather materials and ingredients. First they had to mash the blackberries. They practiced their counting in kwak’wala as they did this. Each person got 10 mashes and then passed the bowl. Next they measured and added the remaining ingredients and got more counting practice as they stirred and stirred to dissolve the sugar. It was a lot of stirring!

Here is the video we use to practice our pronunciation. We are trying our best. Some of the numbers are tricky to say.

Tomorrow we are going to try our jam.
