Stone Soup

Last week, the K/1/2/3s read Stone Soup written by Jon J. Muth.  In this version on the European folk story, three monks make a very special soup. They teach a village, that has seen hard times, a lesson about happiness.  The monks convince the villagers to share ingredients for the soup that is started with just three stones. This act of sharing, brings kindness and happiness back to the village.

This week, the primary class made their own Stone Soup. The students washed, peeled, and chopped all the vegetables for the soup.

They all took turns cooking the soup too.  Of course we had to start with the stones. There was a lot of stirring to be done!

So many vegetables were brought in that there was enough soup to share with the whole school! Hopefully our soup spread a little happiness and kindness too.
