Our First ABC Performance

Yesterday, the musical group Three Worlds visited the school to perform for us.  The three musicians shared music and instruments from around the world.  There were some instruments that we had never seen before. They wrote all the songs themselves!  Here is a small taste of the what the students experienced:

  1. Hello Mrs. Watson’s K/1/2/3 Class,

I always find music amazing. No matter where in the world we go, if we find people we find music. The instruments may change but the enjoyment of listening and playing is something for all cultures.

Your Vimeo shows you all had an amazing experience. If you had to choose, I wonder what instrument would be a favourite for each of you?

    • Dear Mr. Mannell,
Thank you for leaving us a comment! We all love listening to music.

Owain’s favourite instrument is the ukulele. Eli’s favourite instrument is the guitar. Joey loves the steel drum. Owen would like to learn to play the box. Caleb and Star likes the drums. Sierra’s favourite is the instrument that looked like a flying saucer. Storm and Ava like the piano. Alexandra, Zinnia, and Cherish like the flute. Malcolm likes the keyboard and has one at home. Mya really likes the bass.

We wonder what your favourite is?

      Sincerely,
      Mrs. W and the K/1/2/3s

  2. Dear Mrs.Watson,
I really liked Three world. They were really cool. They went to Lucy’s school. I wish that they could come back. I wonder what the next ABC performance is going to be.

    • Hi Merissa,
They were great! The next performance is coming up in November and it is about Emily Carr. I think you will enjoy it!

  3. Hello again Mrs. Watson and K/1/2/3,

I was starting to write a reply to your reply but I was carried away by ideas and sounds I wanted to share with you. I hae to prepare sound files and a blog post to share some of my favourite sounds if you are interested. Here is the link to both the sounds of music and birds…

  4. Dear Mr. Mannell,
Thank you so much for the post you made us! We had an amazing time after lunch listening to all the different sounds. Many of us couldn’t help but move to the music. We got to hear instruments that we had never heard of before. We especially liked the didgeridoo and the boomwhackers. We also loved hearing the sounds from nature and can definitely thought the Kookaburras were laughing. You are right about feeling sound. Many of us did feel the instruments at the ABC performance and even felt like we could with some of the recordings.

Thank you again for sharing all of these sounds with us!

    Your friends,
    Mrs. W and the K/1/2/3s
